WhatsApp is currently one of the most popular messaging platforms, boasting around 3 billion users worldwide. To cater to this vast user base and provide an interactive platform, the Meta-owned app continuously works on new features to keep users engaged. One of the new features WhatsApp is reportedly working on is the ability for users to create and share entire sticker packs directly from the app with other contacts.
According to WABetaInfo, a site that tracks the latest developments on WhatsApp, this feature is currently in the beta phase. It has already begun rolling out to select Android users through the latest WhatsApp beta update version 2.24.25.2 available on the Google Play Store. While the ability to create custom sticker packs is still under development, beta testers have reportedly gained the ability to share entire sticker packs with their contacts, suggesting that the feature will soon be available to more users after successful testing.
Elaborating on how the feature works, reports reveal that users will be able to open the sticker picker in any chat and locate a new three-dot menu option next to each sticker pack. This menu will offer two options: sharing the sticker pack or removing it from their personal library. By selecting the share option, users can easily send sticker packs to friends, family, or group chats.
For first-party sticker packs created by WhatsApp, sharing generates a direct link to the official sticker store. This process allows recipients to download the pack from the store without requiring WhatsApp to re-upload stickers already hosted online. Meanwhile, third-party sticker packs can be uploaded directly and shared with contacts or groups, making it convenient for users who enjoy creating or collecting custom sticker sets.
As for availability, the sticker-sharing feature is currently limited to select beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for Android via the Google Play Store. WhatsApp has also teased the feature on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, indicating that it will soon be rolled out to a broader audience.
While there is no official timeline for a global launch, the gradual rollout to beta testers suggests that WhatsApp is in the advanced stages of testing. Users eager to try the feature can join the beta program on the Google Play Store to access it ahead of the general release.
