    Description

Offered today are the personal British Army binoculars and riding spurs of Brigadier General Arthur Cecil Currie. These items were found in a box together in an estate sale associated with the general in the UK. The binoculars are British Army issue, and the case is stamped with “Lt Col A Currie RGA”, and would have been received early in the war when he was still a Colonel of the Royal Garrison Artillery. As seen from his CV, General Currie went on to command a Canadian Infantry Brigade in the trenches before moving on to command a Heavy Artillery Corps. Imagine what these binoculars have seen! They are in overall good condition, with original neck strap, carry case and shoulder strap. Some dirt specks on inside of lenses but still functional. The riding spurs may well date to his earlier service in South Africa during the Boer War.
