    Description

British blown glass pioneer Pauline Solven Rocking Globe - Evening Trisail D'Azure series in excellent condition.  Signed and dated 1983.  In excellent condition, measures 4" tall x 5" in width.   This globe has circular cut outs on both ends, patterned bottom  and no pontil.  Pauline Solven was a pioneer in the British studio art glass movement, being one of the early artists/designers who also blew her own glass. Earlier, large studios and glass manufacturers would have artists design the glass pieces, but other artists would actually blow it into the design. In 1969, she co-founded The Glasshouse, Covent Garden with Sam Herman, one of the founding fathers of the British studio glass movement.  A few years later, she established her own studio Ravenshill.  Her pieces are found in Corningware Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum.  For more info see .uk/exhibitions/archive/2010/drawing-with-objects/pauline solven.
